LA Galaxy Vs. New England Revolution: Third Goal Disallowed, Game Ends Tied 1-1

Juan Pablo appeared to have opened his account with the LA Galaxy, but he was flagged for being offsides and the goal was disallowed. It was the third goal that the Galaxy have had disallowed in their Sunday night game with the New England Revolution. The game ended up tied 1-1.

The disallowed goal came on a looping pass from about 40 yards out by David Beckham. Angel was about a yard beyond the final defender, and slid the ball past Matt Reis.

Like many of the game’s key moments, the unbelievably wet conditions contributed to the goal. Those conditions only got worse as the night went on. Players repeatedly were slipping on the pitch, unable to find their footing in what looked to be a virtual swimming pool. New England players, who were left to bunker for much of the second half, had a particularly tough time trying to clear the ball out of their defensive third.
