Is there a more widely liked superstar than Steve Nash? Maybe it is because he hasn't won a NBA title or even played in the NBA Finals so he hasn't pissed off a specific fan base too badly yet and got the hate train rolling, but for the most part it is because he is just awesome. He has many different interests so he doesn't just go away during the offseason so whether he's writing and producing Nike commercials or starting his own production company you know he's out having fun and doing things you wish you were doing.
Steve Nash Wins At The Awesome Game Again
One of his other non-basketball interests is soccer. He played as a kid and was very good, but decided to play basketball instead (good choice). Even so, his favorite club in the English Premier League is Tottenham Hotspur, who he follows closely, and he plays soccer regularly. Heck, he even trained with the New York Red Bulls a few years ago and according to all who watched he has some serious skills.
So what does a Vancouver native who loves soccer do? Become a minority owner of the new MLS expansion team in Vancouver of course. And when that expansion team plays their first ever game where was Nash? Sitting in the seats with all the other fans, not in a suite, in a jersey and waving a scarf around.
Yes, those are drunk fans realizing at kick off that Nash is sitting among them and yelling at him. Yes, he really is being awesome and sitting with the fans. No, he’s no being creepy and wearing a jersey customized just for him. He’s wearing the jersey of his brother who played for the Whitecaps who was actually good enough to make the Canadian national team. Most of all, Nash is actually excited to be there and if he weren’t a world famous multi-millionaire he would appear to be any super geeked fan. In conclusion, Nash continues to win at the awesome game.
