Don’t expect SB Nation to be covering Thai youth soccer in any sort of depth, but this is too much fun a story to pass up. In 1986 the boys of a small fishing village named Koh Panyee were inspired to form a football team after watching the World Cup in Mexico. The problem? It was a floating village, meaning that only flat space was... water.

↵You’ll probably want to watch in full screen to see the subtitles. Anywaythe film was based on interviews with the original members of the side from 1986, and all of the actors live in Koh Panyee itself. According to the director Matt Devine, they did their best to be as authentic to the original experience. Apart from the kids obviously having played football before, they did a fantastic job with the film. A very cool story.
