SB Nation Launches 3 New Soccer Blogs

Please welcome three new SB Nation soccer blogs to the fold! We’ve been busy expanding coverage across the board, and we’re delighted to announce that Toronto FC, the San Jose Earthquakes, and La Liga side Villarreal now have the representation on SB Nation that they so thoroughly deserve.

It’s getting to the point where we can’t really keep up with the new blog launches anymore. SB Nation’s Major League Soccer coverage expands still further with two additions: Waking the Red (Toronto) and Quake Rattle and Goal (San Jose). La Liga is the recipient of the third blog, where Villarreal USA will cover, appropriately, Villarreal.

Waking The Red

Duncan Fletcher, who you may have spotted previously at Cruel Geography, will be covering the trials and tribulations of being a fan of Toronto FC. It’s been a miserable few years for Canada’s original MLS team, but they’re not without optimism in the far-flung north:

Waking the Red? Eh? Like waking the dead? Exactly. Also, it’s a rare and perhaps foolish moment of optimism, but I’m going with the idea that after 4 years of poor results and laughing stock quality management, TFC’s latest management team will be the start of a new era of competence and competitiveness.

Quake, Rattle and Goal

Robert Jonas heads up coverage of the San Jose Earthquake at Quake, Rattle and Goal. Expect strong analysis of the bay area’s foremost soccer team - and in return Robert expects an extraordinarily passionate online community in the finest traditions of SB Nation:

In being invited to usher in the Earthquakes blog, I was promised a readership that didn’t treat soccer like just another activity in the great sporting landscape. Rather, I was told to expect a fanatical and demanding audience that appreciated the best of the beautiful game on the pitch as well as on the internet.

Villarreal USA

Not too many in the United States are familiar with Spanish teams outside of the ‘big two’ of Real Madrid and Barcelona, but Allen Dodson and his team are going to do their very best to introduce you to the (very yellow) submarine of Villarreal:

Villarreal USA is both a blog (begun in 2008) which strives to provide the best English-language coverage of Villarreal CF on the internet, as well as being an official American penya (supporter’s club) of the team. Though we have ‘USA’ in our title, we know many of our readers are from other countries, and we’re delighted to have all of you on board the Yellow Submarine!! Endavant Villarreal!!
