Arsenal have got the second half underway, and they now have 45 minutes to score a goal or they're out of the Champions League after a goal from Lionel Messi following an awful mistake by captain Cesc Fabregas. That goal put Barcelona level on aggregate and of course gives them a 1-0 advantage on away goals, so if this scoreline holds it'll be the Spanish side that goes through. Actually scoring a goal looks rather beyond the Gunners at the moment, who've had trouble getting out of the first half all game. They've defended very well, but they'll need to change tack now or that effort will all be for naught.
FC Barcelona Vs. Arsenal FC, 2011: Second Half Begins
Of course, a less defensive approach for the visiting side leaves them appallingly vulnerable to Barcelona’s counterattacks, and if they pile too many bodies forward the game could get out of hand very, very fast. The early stages of the second half have been relatively comfortable for Arsenal, but they’re still not pushing very hard for that goal they need. Arsene Wenger may need to make changes soon.
