Chivas Vs. America 2011, Super Clasico: Expecting Less Of A Stinker
With both Chivas de Guadalajara and America needing three points to make a run at the Mexican Primera Luguilla, Saturday’s installment of the Super Clasico promises to be at least a little more exciting than the most recent version. Both sides are currently in Liguilla positions, but toward the bottom.
Chivas sits on 18 points and is currently eighth, while America is tied for sixth at 19 points. In total, seven teams have between 19 and 16 points, with three playoff spots likely to share amongst them. FMF State of Mind, SB Nation’s Mexican soccer blog, thinks the teams’ standings as well as some lineup changes will help force the action:
The recipe for excitement is here. America have a soft defense, Chivas have a soft center of midfield. Both teams have forwards that can score. Both teams are desperate for a win. If this Super Clasico isn’t exiting, we might be doomed to watch boring draws forever.
