For the entire first half, Fiorentina looked lost. AC Milan kept pushing them and pushing them and the Viola showed nothing that might be considered fight. After the break, the match did even out some, but playing Milan even was not good enough for Fiorentina. Down 2-0, Fiorentina needed to start outplaying the Rossoneri and around the 70th minute they finally did. In the 80th minute, they reaped the rewards as Juan Manuel Vargas scored to bring the home side within one and put Milan on its heels for the final 10 minutes of the match.
Fiorentina Vs. AC Milan: Vargas Goal Gives The Viola Hope
Fiorentina upped the pressure and when a shot was fired at Christian Abiatti, he had no choice but to just block it. That block left a rebound right on Vargas’ foot and the Peruvian took advantage, striking the ball on goal for the first of two goals that the Viola need. Vargas’ shot took a deflection along the way, but with Abiatti on the ground, it is unlikely that the deflection affected much. The goal did affect the match though as the home side now have regained the support of their fans and are beginning to control the pace of the match. The question is whether it is too little, too late? Is there enough time for them to fina an equalizer?
