With Pepe suspended, Raul Albiol partners ex-Chelsea man Ricardo Carvalho int he centre of defence. Meanwhile Marcelo pushes forward to replace di Maria and is in turn replaced as left-back by Alvaro Arbeloa. Adebayor is rewarded for his two goals at the Santiago Bernabeu by being kept in the lineup ahead of the fit again Karim Benzema, although it's probable that the French striker appears at some point.
All in all, it’s a strong side, and although Tottenham will probably edge them at White Hart Lane (because frankly, Madrid won’t care), this team isn’t going to lose by five goals to Spurs. There’s not much for anyone to do but grind out the ninety minutes and prepare for Barcelona.
