Heurelhio Gomes has just made a ludicrous error to concede a goal at White Hart Lane. Cristiano Ronaldo's long-range shot for the right was hit with pace right at the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, who instead of catching it let it bounce off his fingers and trundle over the line in suitably comedic fashion, followed into the net by a scrambling and thoroughly embarrassed Gomes.
Tottenham Hotspur Vs. Real Madrid, 2011 Champions League: Cristiano Ronaldo, Heurelhio Gomes Combine To Give Real 1-0 (5-0) Lead
'How costly is that?' asks the announcer. Erm, not very costly at all? The aggregate score is now 5-0 with 40 minutes to go, which is only slightly more insurmountable than 4-0. It does appear to have rather deflated the players and fans, though - there was a real chance that they'd be able to take Real Madrid's scalp at White Hart Lane as compensation for being knocked out of the Champions League, and that looks fairly unlikely now. But either way, blaming Gomes like this game matters is rather weird.
