David Beckham is apparently unhappy that he will have to sit out the Los Angeles Galaxy's next game after getting his fifth yellow card in six matches. After Wednesday's scoreless tie with Toronto FC in which he received yet another caution, he sounded off in his very Beckham way.
David Beckham, Of All People, Sounds Off On MLS Referees
↵To be honest, over the last few games, I’ve spoke too much about referees. They are becoming the stars of the MLS and that’s obviously not what team’s want and clubs want. You want the players to be playing out there; you want it to be fair. I just don’t think the consistency is there. I think there are bad calls and we’ve had the majority of bad calls over the last few games. It’s ruining games, it’s ruining our preparation for games. I’ll probably get in trouble but it’s gone on too long now. We want that consistency to be there and we want to keep our players on the field.↵
I'm not going to sit here and say that MLS referees are particularly good, and I've recently detailed just how card happy they've been this year. But of all the people to be complaining, Beckham really isn't one of them. If there's one player who tends to get the benefit of the doubt in this league, probably undeservedly, it's Bekcham. Let's keep in mind that this is a player who is lucky to even have been playing against Toronto FC after pulling this stunt in Saturday's game against DC United:
