St. Pauli has won their appeal against a spectator ban that was imposed by the DFB after the April 1 match against Schalke 04.
St. Pauli Win Appeal Against Spectator Ban
Various projectiles were thrown in the direction of the assistant referee in that match, and he was struck with a plastic cup full of beer. The match was abandoned in the 87th minute with Schalke leading 2-0. After reviewing all of the evidence from the match, the DFB awarded the 2-0 to Schalke 04 and placed a spectator ban on St. Pauli for their match on April 23 against Werder Bremen.
St. Pauli appealed the decision, and they were informed yesterday that they had won their appeal.
Well, I guess they won their appeal. They will be able to host their final two home matches this season against Werder Bremen and Bayern München in the Millerntor-Stadion with as many of their crazy fans as they can cram in there. However, St. Pauli has to play their first home match in the 2011-2012 season at least 30 miles away from Hamburg and with a maximum crowd of 12,500.
Obviously, the Germans leave no details uncovered when handing out bans.
