Few expected Parma to be able to grab points away from Inter Milan, but at least in the first half, they have the upper hand thanks to a goal by Sebastian Giovinco. Parma had played Inter well up to the 35th minute goal, although Inter had had the best chances through the fantastic Dejan Stankovic. Chances or not for Stankovic, Parma had their good run of play to surprise Inter and lead to their taking a 1-0 first half lead.

Modesto gathered and spotted Giovinco, who calmly put the ball past Julio Cesar for the 1-0 Parma lead.
