Reports surfaced less than a month ago that the calf injury suffered by Hamburg star forward Ruud van Nistelrooy in a match with Hannover 96 would sideline him for the remainder of the season. Today, the forward announced his return to training via his Twitter account:

On Saturday, Hamburg and Hannover 96 played to a 0-0 draw. Hamburg needed to come away from this match with all three points in order to keep pace with Mainz 05 and Nürnberg for the final Europa League place awarded to the German Bundesliga. Only getting one point may not be the worst part of the match. According to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Twitter account, he suffered a calf injury at some point during the match.
