After a minute's silence immaculately observed in the memory of the Hillsborough Disaster 22 years ago, we're up and running at the Emirates. Neither side's done much just yet - Arsenal are still finding their passing range and Liverpool are being worrying lax in possession in the early stages. We've had a couple of vague attempts at goal though, with Luis Suarez smashing a free kick straight at Wojciech Szczesny in Arsenal's goal and Andy Carroll heading well over from a corner kick. Laurent Koscielny did much better in directing his header past Pepe Reina, but the centre half's attempt ended up clattering the bar rather than rippling the net.
Arsenal Vs. Liverpool: Laurent Koscielny Hits Crossbar
The referee's having an interesting game, though. Arsenal have had a penalty claim totally ignored after Martin Skrtel bundled over Johan Djourou in the box, while Liverpool have had a penalty claim totally ignored after Djourou knocked over Jay Spearing in the box. I think we can call that even. Now Arsenal have had another penalty claim ignored when Dirk Kuyt clearly handled Theo Walcott's goalbound shot. The match is eighteen minutes old.
