West Bromwich Albion Vs. Chelsea FC: Didier Drogba Powers Blues To Win
With Fernando Torres relegated to the bench, Didier Drogba put in a great performance for Chelsea FC as they defeated West Bromwich Albion 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Blues are out of Champions League and almost certainly out of the title race, but their win will go a long way towards securing Champions League football next season.
Peter Odemwingie opened the scoring for West Brom on the 17th minute, bringing out a “the sky is falling” attitude from some of Chelsea’s less optimistic fans. However, their fortunes quickly changed, and they scored three goals between then and the halftime whistle.

Blackpool Vs. Wigan Athletic: DJ Campbell Nets Consolation Goal For Hosts
Anyway, it was a fairly simply goal from Campbell, squeezing in at the near post after a Blackpool free kick led to a Matt Phillips cross, but with just injury time left to go it doesn’t look likely that they’ll get the two goals they need to even get one point out of this debacle.

This result could seal Blackpool’s fate this year - Wigan’s win will raise the Latics out of the relegation zone (for now) and in turn drop the Tangerines into 18th or 19th depending on the West Ham result. It’s been a really bad day for Ian Holloway.

Truth be told, despite the hosts applying plenty of pressure, they’ve never even looked that close to scoring - Wigan are doing a phenomenal job closing them down and defending en masse, and as it stands you’d be surprised to see Blackpool get three clean chances, let alone three goals. And it is three goals Blackpool require, because a draw does nobody any good. In the previous clash between these teams, Blackpool annihilated Wigan 4-0 at the DW Stadium. Now it looks like the Latics are returning the favour.

My goodness that is an awful goal to concede. When Charlie Adam won possession in the centre circle and was subsequently fouled, it didn’t look as though there’d be any particular danger for the home side. Less than ten seconds later, Wigan had put the ball past Matthew Gilks. Whoops.
A result for either team here would be huge in the relegation battle, and Blackpool have just shot themselves in the foot. They absolutely need a win here, but now they’re just looking shell-shocked.
