It's been a pretty miserable half for Liverpool in terms of injuries. First, Andy Carroll landed badly on his knee and is now hobbling around the field after several minutes of medical attention, and now Jamie Carragher is down - and apparently out for the count. Carragher got in the way of right back John Flanagan when the rookie went to clear the ball and the centre half took a header right in the jaw, going down like a sack of bricks. Five minutes later, with the medical team bringing oxygen and a stretcher onto the field, he still hasn't moved - he looks for all the world as though he's out cold.
Arsenal Vs. Liverpool: Jamie Carragher Head Injury Sees Defender Stretchered Off
Carragher clearly isn't going to be playing any further part in the match - oxygen and a neck brace generally indicates that someone's going to be substituted, and Sotirios Kyrgiakos is going to take his place. At the other end of the pitch, Carroll's still getting treatment for his knee, while Kenny Dalglish reassures his distraught right back that it wasn't his fault. Eventually - six or seven minutes after the initial contact, Carragher was stretchered off the pitch to a round of applause from both groups of fans. We'll keep you updated on his status - last word from the dressing room is that Carragher is now conscious and communicating with medical staff.
