Well, nobody can deny that Jamie Carragher is a rough and tumble sort of guy. After a clash of heads with his own right back John Flanagan, the Liverpool centre half was knocked out cold in mid-air and crumpled to the ground, sending the medical staff scampering out to assist him. Five minutes later, with Carragher still unconscious having been placed in a neck brace and given oxygen, he was stretchered off the pitch. Things didn't look particularly rosy for the England international, but he woke up while the match was still going and has now said he's 'absolutely fine':
Jamie Carragher Injury Update: Defender ‘Absolutely Fine’ After Being Stretchered Off At Emirates
I can’t remember anything. As soon as I came round I was absolutely fine. It was a little clash of heads and these things happen in football. I went out on to the pitch at the end because I wanted to celebrate with the lads.
It’s great news for fans of football that Carragher is ok after what looked like it could have been a really bad problem, although it’s unclear if he’ll be able to return to match action immediately thanks to the risk of concussion. It’s also wonderful news for Flanagan, who looked mortified to have been involved in the collision and had to be consoled by manager Kenny Dalglish as Carragher was being tended to.
