The post-Dwayne De Rosario era did not get off to a very good start on Saturday. Alejandro Moreno scored a goal in the 2nd minute off an assist from Jorge Flores to give Chivas USA their first lead of the 2011 season.
Toronto FC Vs. Chivas USA: Alejandro Morena Gives Goats First Lead Of Season
The goal was Moreno’s first in a Chivas uniform, beating Toronto FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei to a ball at the edge of the penalty area. Five minutes into the game, TFC has yet to get any kind of possession in their offensive end and Chivas just missed a chance for a 2-0 lead when Justin Braun’s header went over the crossbar.
It might make sense that TFC is struggling a little, as both Danleigh Borman and Toni Tchani are starting without a full day of training with their new team. Both players were acquired in the De Rosario trade, along with a first-round pick. Borman started at fullback, while Tchani started in the midfield.
