The early returns are good on Chivas USA coach Robin Fraser willingness to adapt. After two straight weeks in which his team looked disjointed and direction-less, Fraser changed his formation and swapped out several starters. The results, so far, have Chivas USA outplaying Toronto FC, but tied 1-1 at halftime.
Toronto FC Vs. Chivas USA, Halftime: Robin Fraser’s changes have looked good
Among the changes Fraser made were going from a 4-1-2-3 to a more standard 4-4-2, and dropping Victor Estupinan and goalkeeper Zach Thornton from the starting XI. In their places, Jorge Flores and Dan Kennedy have played well. Alejandro Moreno and Justin Braun have also looked more comfortable than they had in the first two matches, with Moreno scoring his first goal and Braun coming close a couple of times.
After a slow start, Toronto FC did settle did. They got a goal from Alan Gordon in the 39th minute and had another goal waved off on an incorrect off-sides call.
