If you're enjoying the Barcelona vs. Real Madrid Copa Del Rey final via the magic of ESPN3, you're probably being enthralled by the ridiculously excellent announcing of Sid Lowe, who has set a new record for 'longest time taken without having to breathe by a human being' and has come awfully close to the 'deep-diving whale' category. The man, probably better known as the BBC's Spanish football reporter, managed to talk reallyreallyreallyfastlikethis for forty-five minutes straight in a quite literally breathless second half, which has led me to the following conclusion:
Copa Del Rey Final: Sid Lowe’s Announcing Making Great Match Greater
Sid Lowe should announce everything.
I don’t mean everything major. I mean everything. Matches on at the same time? Probably no problem for good old Sid - he’s talking fast enough that I have no doubt he could do both at the same time. And it doesn’t have to be limited to sports, either. I want Lowe to be talking me through brushing my teeth and making coffee in the morning. Grocery shopping? Walking down the street? He’d made them sound like the giddiest of adventures. I need more excitement in my life. I need more Sid Lowe.
