Real Madrid Vs. Barcelona 2011, Copa Del Rey Final: Cristiano Ronaldo Goal Has Madrid In The Lead With 15 Minutes To Go

Well that was a stunner! It looked like Real Madrid and Barcelona were destined to finish the first period of extra time scoreless, but Real Madrid have taken the lead 12 minutes into extra time, thanks to a goal by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar has come close on many occasions in this game, and based on how his team has pushed in extra time, his goal is well deserved.

Angel Di Maria provided the assist, and it’s tough to decide what was better, the delivery or the finish. Di Maria played a great swinging cross from the left flank, curling right towards the head of Cristiano Ronaldo, who set up just to the right of the penalty spot. The ball came right to him and he hit an absolutely stunning header into the back of the net, giving Jose Manuel Pinto absolutely no chance to make a stop.

Immediately after the goal, Jose Mourinho made a substitution, bringing on Esteban Granero for Sami Khedira, who played an incredible 102 minutes, covering an insane amount of distance in the process.
