Chris Wondolowski scored his third goal of the young MLS season and Alejandro Moreno found the equalizer just moments before the halftime whistle as Chivas USA and the San Jose Earthquakes are tired 1-1 on Saturday. Chivas USA had the better of play, out shooting the home team 8-3 and out possessing them 56-44. Still, they found themselves behind for much of the half.
San Jose Earthquakes Vs. Chivas USA: Chris Wondolowski, Alejandro Moreno Keep It Level
Wondolowski opened the scoring in the 16th minute, on a play that started with a corner kick. Ramiro Corales was able to collect the ball at the far side and sent a cross into the box where Khari Stephenson headed toward the goal. While falling away from the goal, Wondolowski was able to head it over oncoming goalkeeper Dan Kennedy.
But the Earthquakes' inability to control possession finally caught up with them in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. Heath Pearce sent a free kick into the box and Moreno got just enough of his head on it to get the ball past Jon Busch.
