Getafe President Angel Torres Denies Deal With Royal Emirates Group Complete

Getafe have denied reports that Dubai-based investment company Royal Emirates Group have completed a £110M takeover of the club (implicitly denying that their new name will be 'Team Dubai' in the process). Although earlier indications had suggested the deal was done, club president Angel Torres was pretty strenuous in his insistence than nothing was yet official:

I was in Dubai looking for sponsors. We signed a series of agreements and protocols. No one should doubt Angel Torres. Getafe has not yet been sold. First I have to inform the board of all the things that were done, then I will give a news conference.

So, hold up on the Team Dubai talk for now, although that’s an awfully strident denial considering he’s only saying that nothing is complete yet. Rumours have also surfaced that perhaps REG aren’t all they appear - is it possible that we’ve all been drawn in by an elaborate spoof? I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I really, really hope so.
