It didn't take the Los Angeles Galaxy long to get their offense going tonight against the Portland Timbers. It was evident from the start of the game that the Galaxy were going to pressure the Timbers and their shaky backline.
Los Angeles Galaxy Vs. Portland Timbers: Barrett, Donovan Put Galaxy Up Early
In the forth minute Chad Barrett hit what could end up being the goal of the week for week six. Barrett took a pass outside the 18-yard box from Landon Donovan, did a nifty little flick to put some space between him and his defender and then sent an impressive volley past Portland keeper Troy Perkins.
Minutes later the Galaxy would strike again as Donovan was brought down in the penalty box by Rodney Wallace. The ref immediately pointed to the penalty spot and Donovan cooly hammered home the game's second goal.
The game has since settled down a bit with both teams trading shots. Portland has been pressing forward more with Jack Jewsbury and Kalif Alhassan. Neither have been able to get past LA keeper Donovan Ricketts yet though.
