Landon Donovan broke his scoring slump in a big way, registering two goals in the Los Angeles Galaxy's 3-0 win over the Portland Timbers. Donovan's second goal came off a feed from fellow Designated Player Juan Pablo Angel, who sent a cross to the far post that Donovan headed into the back of the net.
LA Galaxy Vs. Portland Timbers: Landon Donovan’s Brace Gives Galaxy 3-0 Win
Coincidentally enough, the last time Donovan scored he did it twice in a game. That was back on Sept. 18, 2010 when he scored twice against DC United. Donovan has played in eight MLS games since then. Donovan also assisted on the game's other goal, setting up Chad Barrett.
The Timbers had entered the match on a two-game winning streak, but suffered their worst loss of the season. They have now allowed two or more goals for the fourth time this season, as they’ve yielded a league-worst 13 in total. The Galaxy have now gone unbeaten in their last three matches and have a league-leading 15 points.
