David Ferreira’s Injury May Be Even Worse Than Originally Believed

When David Ferreira went down with an apparent ankle injury in Saturday's match against the Vancouver Whitecaps, we knew it was bad. Replays showed his foot got caught in the turf and it was immediately reported as a broken ankle. Turns out, it may be even worse than that as Big D Soccer, SB Nation's FC Dallas blog, discovered a report in a Colombian daily:

Among the highlights of the story include that Ferreira has ruptured ankle ligaments as well as his double break and that he hopes to have surgery done by a doctor in Colombia that he likes, hoping to have the surgery done this weekend.

Considering Ferreira is 31 and ligament injuries are notoriously long recoveries, it's fair to wonder if this might be a career-altering injury. At the very least, the reality of FC Dallas having to play most of the season without their best player is looking like a real possibility

In the short-term, Big D Soccer looked at some of the possible options which include maintaining the current 4-2-3-1 formationn or potentially switching up to a 4-4-2.
