DC United's defence has been appalling so far today, but that doesn't matter so much when you can score goals. Just minutes after they were denied a clear penalty after Houston Dynamo defender Hutner Freeman brought down Chris Pontius as he broke into the penalty box, they were level from a set piece. Andrew Hainault was called for a handball about 25 yards out, and four DC players stood over the ball to take the free kick.

The routine was really interesting - Chris Pontius jumped over the ball, it was tapped to Dax McCarty, and then Mark Burch hammered the ball through the now-crumbling well and past Tally Hall, who got a hand to it as it was crossing the line but had no chance of keeping it out.
DC were level for all of two minutes. As mentioned about eighteen times already today, their defence has been a complete and total shambles. For some reason, Brad Davis was allowed to latch onto a long diagonal pass, and the midfielder swung in a lovely left-footed cross for Will Bruin to head home his second. Whoops.
