Interesting first half in Houston, where DC United's defence is the story of the evening. Less than four minutes had elapsed before they made their first major error of the evening, allowing Will Bruin to slip in behind them and score on what ended up being a two on one with unfortunate goalkeeper Bill Hamid. DC were generating chances of their own, but they seemed absolutely intent on handing the Dynamo more opportunities.
Houston Dynamo Vs. DC United: 2-1 Houston At Halftime
Referee Jason Anno had denied United a clear chance to equalise when he completely ignored Hunter Freeman sliding through Chris Pontius in the penalty area, but Houston couldn't keep their guests off the scoresheet for long - Marc Burch getting his first goal of the season with a very well-worked free kick than forced the Dynamo wall to disintegrate before the defender hammered past Tally Hall.
If that goal raised the visitors' spirits, Houston's response sent them right back down. It was yet another example of defensive ineptitude as Brad Davis was allowed to simply stroll unchecked onto a long ball sent down the right and the midfielder laid in a perfect cross for Will Bruin, who claimed his brace with a firm, unsaveable header. So, it's 2-1 to the home team at halftime, but frankly anything could happen in the rest of the match.
