Heurelhio Gomes might have had an impressive second half, but he’s been primarily to blame for two Real Madrid goals now, and Tottenham are now 4-0 down with the game about to hit the 90th minute. The class of Kaka, introduced for Angel di Maria after the Argentine scored that brilliant third goal, showed in the fourth goal, as the Brazilian, finding himself on the ball in the area, chose to float a ball wide to Cristiano Ronaldo rather than drive through the heart of the Spurs defence himself.
Real Madrid Vs. Tottenham Hotspur, 2011 UEFA Champions League: Cristiano Ronaldo Gets Milan’s Fourth
Instead of taking the ball down, Ronaldo shot first time, driving a shot in at the near post past a flailing Gomes. It wasn’t a particularly great shot, but the goalkeeper let it go right through him anyway, making the score 4-0 and... if the tie was dead before (it was) it’s super-dead now. Tottenham are done.
Adding insult to injury, on the next attack Pepe nearly scored on a corner. This is really really ugly.
