Since writing that Shakhtar Donetsk were on top against Barcelona, it’s been all Pep Guardiola’s side at the Camp Nou. Although considering who’s playing, that’s far less of a surprise. Lionel Messi is almost certainly going to score today - the little magician has just managed to send a long range free kick inches wide of Andriy Pyatov’s left-hand post and then managed yet another surging run straight past Mykola Ischenko and Darijo Srna to set up a cheeky chip that Pyatov just about got a hand to. Then Gerard Pique decided to completely miss the ball rather than shoot while unmarked in the middle of the area from a corner, which was a little odd.

Incidentally, Donetsk have already shown infinitely more attacking promise in this fixture than Arsenal achieved, and despite being a goal down they’re doing a marvelous job of taking the game to Barcelona. It’s probably suicide, but it’ll be entertaining suicide at least. And they might just get that away goal they need.
