Brazilian right back Dani Alves has atoned for his earlier mistakes by doubling Barcelona’s lead at the Camp Nou. Shakhtar Donetsk were left helpless by a glorious diagonal pass from goalscorer Andres Iniesta, and Alves’ first touch was absolutely sublime, flicking the ball into the path of his run whilst simultaneously taking goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov completely out of the picture. From then it was just a matter of rolling into an empty net from six yards out, which was no problem at all. A very classy move.
FC Barcelona Vs. Shakhtar Donetsk, 2011 UEFA Champions League: Dani Alves Doubles Barcelona’s Lead
It doesn’t look as though Shakhtar’s fullbacks, particularly Razvan Rat are especially used to the idea of having opposition wingbacks running into the centre from so deep - they’re right now completely unable to deal with the threat of Alves bombing into the penalty box and are resorting to fouling him as painfully and as often as possible, which doesn’t really seem very friendly.
