Xavi Hernandez is now on the scoresheet as Barcelona have built an unassailable lead at the Camp Nou. It’s now 5-1 to the Catalan giants, and they’ve made a habit of totally dismantling the visiting defence whenever they’ve gone forwards, so it was only natural that they got another goal. This time it was play inside the Shakhtar area which led to the goal, Lionel Messi deftly creating space, allowing Xavi to come in behind and roll the neat pass past Andriy Pyatov and into the back of the net. I’m not even going to bother asking where Darijo Srna was on that one - it’d be hard to ask for defensive discipline when his side’s getting torn apart so badly.
FC Barcelona Vs. Shakhtar Donetsk, 2011 UEFA Champions League: Xavi Scores To Make It 5-1
For, Shakhtar Donetsk need to win by 4-0 in the Ukraine to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League. Forgive me if I consider that a touch unlikely. It looks for all the world like we’re going to be getting a Real Madrid-Barcelona semi-final.
