The long-rumored signing of Danish striker Rajko Lekic by the New England Revolution has finally been made official. Lekic will join the team as soon as he receives his International Transfer Certificate. It was also learned that contrary to previous reports, Lekic will not be a Designated Player.

Lekic comes to the Revolution with an impressive overseas resumes, most of which has been spent in Denmark where he has played both professionally and for the national team. Among his notable accomplishments are scoring 76 goals in 121 appearances with Silkeborg.
“We’re very pleased to announce Rajko’s signing,” Revolution Vice President of Player Personnel Michael Burns said in a team release. “We have been public in our desire to bring in an attacking player to the club, and we believe we’ve added a significant component to our attack with this signing. Rajko has scored goals consistently for all his previous clubs, and we are optimistic he’ll do the same for us during his time in New England.”
