The Los Angeles Galaxy have made a habit of falling behind early in matches this season, but in the first match of a three match road trip they have bucked the trend. Mike Magee got on the end of a David Beckham corner kick to put the Galaxy ahead just 12 minutes in for their first goal of the season within 30 minutes. The goal is also the Galaxy's third consecutive goal to come on the end of a Beckham set piece. Los Angeles will now only drop deeper than they already were and look for their attack through the counter-attack with a 1-0 lead.
DC United Vs. LA Galaxy: Magee Scores On Beckham Corner For Early LA Lead
DC had gotten some space in the early going, especially through Chris Pontius, who was off to a quick start. Pontius was finding space in front of the Galaxy defense and Dax McCarty was pushing higher to give him support, but they couldn't find the clear cut chance they were looking for. LA was content to let DC keep the ball in front of their back line and look for the opportunity to strike quickly, which they used on a quick move that led to the corner kick for the goal.
