Brad Evans scored two goals and assisted on the other as the Seattle Sounders beat Toronto FC 3-0 on Saturday. It was the Sounders' first game since losing starters Steve Zakuani and O'Brian White for the foreseeable future. Zakuani, as has been well documented, is probably out for the year after breaking his leg last Friday and White recently underwent emergency surgery to have a blood clot removed and his return has been called "indefinite."
Seattle Sounders Vs. Toronto FC: Brad Evans Scores Twice, Assists On Other Goal
The Sounders got off to a fast start, as Alvaro Fernandez headed in a Evans cross in the 9th minute to take some of the edge off and allow the Sounders to exhale a bit. A few minutes later, from the 11:00 mark to 11:59 the 36,000-plus crowd held up No. 11 placards and chanted Zakuani's name.
The Sounders had the better of play throughout the first half, but only led 1-0. Evans changed that in the 52nd minute when he one-timed a feed from Fredy Montero to double the Sounders' lead. Evans then put the game away on a penalty in the 75th minute that followed a Dicoy Williams handball in the box.
