If you wanted to watch the 2011 Europa League final between Sporting Braga and FC Porto live on television in the United States, well, you have a bit of a problem. It’s not being shown. Fox Soccer doesn’t have it. Fox doesn’t have it. ESPN doesn’t have it. Nobody is showing it. You’re on your own (UEFA may be streaming it live on their website but a) don’t count on that and b) it will be of dubious quality anyway).
Europa League Final 2011 TV Schedule
For all that UEFA tries to insist that the Europa League final is somehow a big deal despite most clubs not taking the thing particularly seriously, failing to ensure that the final is on television in the States is ridiculous. You can’t build up interest in a product by not showing consumers the game, and the match should be every bit as fun as the Champions League final next weekend. Braga and Porto (especially the latter) are excellent teams and it’s a real shame it’s going to be so difficult to watch them.
Anyway, at least UK readers will be able to watch on TV, thanks to the magic of Channel Five. The match will be shown starting at 19:15 local time, but won’t be available online.
SB Nation will be doing live coverage of the match in this stream, so if you can’t watch it you can catch up with all of the action as it unfurls. We hope to see you here!
