It took the sending off of Cristian Ledesma to get Juventus to finally remember how to attack, but even so, they needed a bit of help from Lazio to find the opening goal at the Stadio Olimpico. A cross in the box resulted in a Luca Toni "flick", which was really some sort of odd attempt for the veteran to control the ball. Instead it moved on to Simone Pepe, who took a shot from just outside the area. The ball took a wicked deflection off Lionel Scaloni, substituted in for Giuseppe Biava, and bounced into the net. Nando Muslera was caught wrong footed, diving the wrong direction.

After the huge amount of work that Lazio have put into this match, spending the vast majority of their time in the Juventus half, it seems almost unfair that they should be denied any points. Then again, you’d also think that by this point in the season, the Lazio players would have learned to control their tempers.
