Atletico Madrid and Argentina star Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero issued a statement on his personal website and twitter feed that he is seeking a move away from his current club in the summer transfer window.
Atletico Madrid Offer Sergio Aguero Huge New Contract
Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero’s announcement that he’d be leaving Atletico Madrid as soon as possible was not exactly done with the prior consent of the team. Club president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that the Argentinian forward is by no means for sale, and now Atletico have offered Aguero a new contract in hopes of convincing him to stay. According to AS, the new offer stands at an eye-watering €9M per year, which seems more than a little excessive for a club of Atletico’s stature.

In a personal statement left on his verified twitter page and his personal website, Atletico Madrid and Argentina international striker Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero expressed his desire to move away from Atletico Madrid. Atletico purchased Aguero from Independiente in 2006, and since then he has become one of the most highly coveted young players in world football. He’s scored 74 goals in La Liga in his time at Atletico, including double-digit tallies in all of the last four seasons and 20 goals this year. In all competitions, Aguero has scored over 100 goals for Atletico Madrid.
It’s been an up and down ride for the club since Aguero arrived, with some of the highs including qualifying for Champions League and winning the Europa League. However, this season was a serious disappointment for Atletico, and as a result, Aguero has asked for a transfer elsewhere. Here is an excerpt from his statement on his personal website.
