Just like we've seen time and time again out of the Seattle Sounders, when their defense is doing well their offense somehow goes in hiding. FC Dallas came into Qwest Field looking for their first ever win there and found it thanks to a Brek Shea goal in the first half.
Seattle Sounders FC Vs. FC Dallas: Dallas Continues Shutout Streak With 1-0 Win
Shea's forth goal of the season came off a lovely through ball from Andrew Jacobson. Shea ran a perfect route down the middle of the pitch to find the ball from Jacobson and shot it over Kasey Keller. Shea nearly converted on another ball later in the first half when he found some extra room in the penalty box but his shot went high and wide.
From the start of the second half it was all Seattle. The Sounders pressed forward to test the Dallas defense and Kevin Hartman. But the finishing was not there in the end. Michael Facito had a couple dangerous shots on goal but none that truly tested Hartman, who recorded his league-record 99th shutout. Dallas was able to shut down Seattle's two Designated Players Fredy Montero and Alvaro Fernandez in this one, as neither saw good looks on goal.
With the win Dallas extended their shutout streak to 489 minutes, a new franchise record. The win also puts Dallas in a better position out West with 21 points, four more than the next three teams below them.
