When you're hot, you're hot and right now the Los Angeles Galaxy and Landon Donovan are hot. Donovan scored his league-leading eighth goal against the Houston Dynamo off a penalty kick right before halftime and that goal was more than enough to give the Galaxy the three points.

LA was struggling to get anything going on offense before that though. They had zero shots on goal for the first 44 minutes, but were the beneficiary of a hand ball in the penalty box. Houston midfielder Lovel Palmer stopped a shot by Chris Birchall with his arm, and the ref immediately pointed to the penalty spot where Donovan scored the game's only goal.
The goal was a nice send off to Donovan, who will miss the next two matches as he goes off with the US National Team for the Gold Cup.
The second half was bottled up in the midfield as neither team were able to really get anything going on offense. The Galaxy did a good job at shutting down Brad Davis while the Dynamo failed to get enough possession to get anything up to their strikers.
The Galaxy widen their lead in the overall MLS table with 26 points, they have played anywhere between two and six games more than the other teams in the league though at this point. Houston remains at 14 points, good for third in the Eastern Conference. They take on Texas rivals FC Dallas on Saturday.
