Chance Myers and C.J. Sapong each scored two goals as Sporting Kansas City claimed the final MLS spot in the U.S. Open Cup by beating the New England Revolution 5-0 on Wednesday. It was their first competitive match played at home during the 2011 season. Sporting KC earned a spot in the tournament's Round of 16. The victory was their first in any competition since March 19, a stretch of seven matches.

Sporting KC used a lineup that featured several regular starters, but it was reserves Myers and Sapong that stole the show. Myers, who leads the Reserve League with three goals, got it started when he finished a Omar Bravo feed in the 9th minute. He picked up his second goal 10 minutes later on an unassisted tally.
Sapong made the lead 3-0 in the 24th minute and the rout was on. Aurelien picked up a goal in the 81st minute and Sapong finished it off with an 88th minute tally.
