The match got off to a fast start when Gabriel Farfan scored his first professional goal in the 2nd minute. Jordan Harvey sent a pass into the box that Farfan chested down, transferred to his right foot and beat TFC goalkeeper Stefan Frei.
That was followed just nine minutes later on Justin Mapp's first goal of the 2011 season. Mapp started the goal-scoring sequence when he intercepted a ball at midfield and passed it off to Kyle Nakazawa, who then sent it back to Mapp. Mapp then unleashed a shot from about 20 yards out.
Nakazawa capped off the scoring in the 44th minute, finishing a feed from Danny Mwanga. The scoring sequence started in TFC's end, when an attempted quick free kick ended up in Union possession.
