UEFA Champions League Final 2011: Still 1-1 As First Half Nears End

Is this game ever going to slow down? It’s been played at a hundred miles an hour for the first forty minutes and is showing absolutely no signs of stopping. Unlike many previous Champions League finals, it’s also been very very good as well. Nothing boring yet!

Dani Alves makes it even better with a sumptuous piece of skill, intercepting a ball intended for Ryan Giggs, lifting it over the Manchester United midfielder with a deft touch and immediately latching back onto the ball before the Welshman can even turn around. That starts a passage of play that gives Edwin van der Sar a scare when Pedro breaks free down the Barcelona left before being eventually crowded out. Second later, Antonio Valencia somehow gets away with a nasty challenge on Lionel Messi without a booking, although the free kick is in a dangerous position and Sergio Busquets very nearly slips in Pedro. Anyway, it's still even at 1-1 with about five minutes of the first half left.
