UEFA Champions League Final 2011: Paul Scholes On For Michael Carrick

There are about fifteen minutes left in the 2011 UEFA Champions League final at Wembley, and Manchester United, down 3-1, need something approaching a miracle to come back into the match. It's not as though miracles have never happened with United in a Champions League final, however, so don't rule them out yet - although you'd have to imagine that Sir Alex Ferguson would rather be in Pep Guardiola's shoes right now.

Speaking of Ferguson, he makes his second substitution of the night, throwing on Xavi's footballing idol Paul Scholes for Michael Carrick. One wonders if we're going to see the Scholes who can dominate entire midfields with his vision or passing range, the one who gets himself sent off in FA Cup semi-finals, or something in between. I'd guess at the latter, but United need him at his best to re-impose themselves on this match. We're still at 3-1 in the 79th minute.
