The Seattle Sounders' injury situation seemed to be getting a little better with the return of Brad Evans to the starting lineup. But 17 minutes into Saturday's game against Real Salt Lake, they lost another starting midfielder as Alvaro Fernandez had to be removed with what appeared to be a pulled hamstring. It's the third time in the last five games that a leg muscle strain has felled a Sounder.
Real Salt Lake Vs. Seattle Sounders: Scoreless At Halftime
Neither team has looked especially good in the scoreless first half. Neither team really challenged the goal, although they did combine for three shots on goal.
RSL can put some of the blame for their lackluster offensive play on the absence of three of their top four forwards that forced midfielder Jean Alexandre into a rare start up top. Defensively, they've held up just fine, though. Their shutout streak currently sits at 383 minutes, and their home unbeaten streak sits at 29 matches.
