The Portland Timbers have faced some of MLS's best teams at Jeld-Wen Field, but none of them have managed to accomplish what DC United has in the first half on Sunday. Behind Perry Kitchen's first career MLS goal, United lead 1-0 at halftime.
Portland Timbers Vs. DC United: Timbers Trailing 1-0 At Halftime
The Timbers have won their first five MLS contests at Jeld-Wend Field and have never trailed at any point in the game, but United have generally looked like the better team so far. United has created several good scoring opportunities and only the goalkeeping of Troy Perkins has kept the score as close as it is.
Kenny Cooper has come close to scoring at least twice, but his best chances have both been whistled offsides. The Timbers' attack has generally not looked as cohesive as it has in past games and their set-piece work has yet to create the opportunities that we've become accustomed to seeing. As it stands now, they would need two more wins to equal the longest home winning streak for an expansion team.
