Barcelona Vs. Real Madrid, 2011 UEFA Champions League Semifinal: Ricardo Carvalho Lucky To Avoid Red

Lionel Messi is really getting beaten up today and Ricardo Carvalho is perhaps more than a little fortunate with with referee Frank De Bleeckere opting not to issue a yellow card for a nasty little tackle by the Portuguese defender through the back of the little forward. Carvalho, of course, has already been booked, and the last thing Madrid want is to go down to ten men at the Camp Nou here.

The free kick is wasted, so Barcelona decide to earn another one when Javier Mascherano opts to dive over Xabi Alonso's outstretched leg. Alsono isn't best pleased by this chain of events, but de Bleeckere ignores him. I think it was pretty rude, though. Real Madrid finally get into the Barcelona box a little while afterwards, but Cristiano Ronaldo's nod back to the centre after being found in space is a) to nobody and b) with his hands, so that isn't really too helpful for their cause.

This is the fourth of four matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona. You can view our coverage of the April 16th, 20th and 27th matches here, here and here, with live coverage of Real Madrid vs Barcelona on May 3 in this story stream.
