Neither the Chicago Fire nor the Vancouver Whitecaps are off to very strong starts this season, although no one expected much from them. The Fire were awful a season ago and brought in several new faces so a slow start was to be expected. The Whitecaps are an expansion team so expectations were very low, as they always are with first-year teams. Both teams have played to those low expectations as each is second from the bottom in their respective conference tables heading into this evening match at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., where the Fire have to be looked at as slight favorite on the basis of being at home.
