Despite the Phil Jones transfer hitting a brief snag at the end of last week, the former Blackburn Rovers defender is now property of Manchester United. Manchester United Transfer News: Phil Jones Deal Confirmed
Manchester United is delighted to announce it has signed an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Phil Jones. The player passed a medical in Manchester last week and has agreed a 5-year contract. The deal will be completed once the player returns from international duty.
There had been some questions over the validity of the transfer raised by Blackburn owners Venky’s, who contested that simply meeting the buyout clause did not entitle Untied to buy the player. Apparently, those protests have had minimal effect on Sir Alex Ferguson and company - Jones’ transfer fee is believed to be in the realm of 16.5M, equivalent to the buyout value.
