Down a man, on the road and facing a Toronto FC desperate for a victory, the Seattle Sounders pulled out a improbable 1-0 win after a stoppage-time free kick goal from Fredy Montero. The goal was Montero's first in more than 500 minutes and extended TFC's winless streak to eight matches.
Toronto FC Vs. Seattle Sounders: Fredy Montero Wins It In Stoppage Time
The Reds played up a man for the final 41 minutes of the match after Jhon Kennedy Hurtado received his second yellow card of the match. TFC, though, was unable to capitalize and the Sounders actually had the better of the play from there on out. That culminated with Montero's goal, that came after a foul just outside the penalty area.
Montero took a short approach and curled the ball over the wall and inside the near post. It was Montero’s third goal of the season.
Toronto FC generated 18 shots, but put just two of them on goal. The Sounders, meanwhile, put four of their 10 shots on target.
